Sleepless
nights are affecting the relationships
of millions of Britons*, according
to the latest findings from Relaxsan,
the 'no springs!' mattress company.
Over a third of Britons
(38%) claim that they are too tired
for relations with their partner.
The problem is worst for those in
their thirties and forties, 43 percent
say that their libido has been affected
by a lack of sleep. A further 43 per
cent of all Britons say that tiredness
causes tensions within their relationship.
The top reason for
sleepless nights amongst Britons is
stress at home (39%). Women are more
likely to suffer from a restless night's
sleep over stresses in the home, with
almost half (47%) blaming this for
their bouts of insomnia. Men are less
susceptible to stress in the home,
under a third (31%) found that this
gave them sleepless nights.
But problems caused
by lack of sleep go beyond the bedroom.
Two thirds of Britons (66%) say that
not getting enough sleep has caused
them medical complaints. Productivity
at work also decreases without a good
night's rest, over half of all Britons
(52%) admit that their work is affected
by being tired. This problem is most
acute for those in their twenties,
66 percent have problems at work due
to not having had the full eight hours.
The social lives
of Britons are also affected by a
lack of sleep. Thirty-nine per cent
of those questioned said that being
tired had a detrimental affect on
their leisure time, with this figure
rising to 52 per cent among people
in their twenties. Thirty-eight percent
blame a lack of sleep on problems

and 28% say that it affects their
relationship with their friends. One
in four (26%) find that they are grouchy
with colleagues when tired.
